247 Stoppages Of Play In The Championship

It was a bit frustrating to watch at times. No flow to the game, constant whistles, too many fouls, poor shooting, fouls, really bad shots, TV timeouts, lets check the reply, terrible shooting, foul after foul after foul....it was more painful to watch than sitting through a two hour staff meeting at the office. However, when the explosive confetti settled, the Tar Heals of North Carolina were the victors on the night over Gonzaga's first trip to the championship game.

After an average first round of picks, Lisa Craig excelled when the points per round increased. Correctly picked 5 of the last 8 teams, three out of the last four, picked both winners and the champion. Nicely done! See Lisa Craig's pick sheet

Here are our top ten pick sheets on the year. Congrats to the leaders. If you were in an entry fee office pool, I'm sure you were the winner of it.

1. Lisa Craig 2
2. Katz
3. Pat Kowalczyk
4. Scott 2
5. Duncan
6. Diana Beauchamp 1
7. Jerry Stevens
8. Kelly Fitch
9. Diana Beauchamp 2
10. Eric Breiland

See you all in 2018

Four Teams, Eight Scenarios Remain

This is it, the final weekend of games. Four teams remain and there are now only eight tournament outcomes remaining. I've enjoyed the tournament this year having three new teams playing in the final weekend. Or at least it has been a while since they were last here. I am still surprised that the Florida vs Wisconsin game was the first overtime game of the tournament this year. How does that happen?

And a reminder, the games shift to Saturday and Monday this weekend. I know the Saturday games are on CBS, I'm unsure about the championship game. However, if it's similar to last year, it was TBS for the general broadcast and a tailored school broadcast on two other channels.

With just three games to go, here are the final eight scenarios and where you will finish in the standings depending on the outcome:

If South Carolina beats Oregon
If Oregon beats South Carolina
If South Carolina beats North Carolina
If North Carolina beats South Carolina
If Gonzaga beats Oregon
If Oregon beats Gonzaga

If Gonzaga beats North Carolina
If North Carolina beats Gonzaga
Our current Top Ten pick sheets are as follows:

1. Duncan
2. KitKat
3. Lisa Craig 2
4. Smitty 2
5. Smitty 1
6. Katz
7. Scott 2
7. www.ganza.com
7. Rachunek 1
7. Kevin Jorgenson 1
7. Kevin Jorgenson 2

If you are still in it, good luck!

Still Anyone's To Win

With only sixteens remaining in the 2017 Tournament, it's still anyone's Championship to win. The games start back up today with four games tonight and four games Friday night. That will complete our third round in the office pool bracket contest.

There are only three #1 Seeds and two #2 seeds. We have four #3 and four #4 seeds. Lastly there is one #7, one #8 and one #11 seed to complete all sixteen teams. Aside from three teams, if you picked #4 seeds or lower, you are sitting great in the standings as this was not the year of the lower seeded teams shaking up the bracket like in years past.

Looking into the numbers. Out of the 389 pick sheets, who is picked to win between some of the match ups in round three:

Wisconsin - 14 (picked to win)
Florida - 25

Baylor - 39
S. Carolina - 2

Gonzaga - 284
W. Virginia - 32

Kansas - 325
Purdue - 20

UCLA - 180
Kentucky - 164

Each correctly picked game is worth 5 points.

That's all I have right now. Enjoy the games and be sure to check out the Player Scenarios to see what your best place finish, worst place finish and which teams you need to root for in your field of eight teams.

Round One Is Completed. Round Two Begins.

The first round of games is in the books and 32 teams have been eliminated from the field of 64. After the Thursday night games completed, fourteen of the sixteen games were won by the higher seeded team. This created a logjam at the top of the current standings page. Friday's games were just a bit off of Thursday's were twelve of the sixteen games were higher seeded victories.

If you're new to the OfficePool64 Bracket Challenge, the current standings can always be found in the right column menu of the main web site under 'Current Standings'. From there, the menu of everything else office pool related can be found. The standings are updated automatically once per hour, at the top of the hour, but only after games have completed.

I will create blog posts on the main website, including the contents of this email, but will not bombard you with emails after each post. I'll only send one email, or two at the most, per week. However, feel free to check on the website for any new blog posts.

Overall there are 389 submitted pick sheets in the 2017 contest. Almost everyone is still in it, except for the last place bracket as they selected all lower seeded teams to win. Good stuff.

Looking at the current standings, 30 of 32 correctly picked teams by Eva Mooberry is tops, followed closely by ten brackets with 29 correctly picked.
